Lives and works in Buenos Aires

Diego Bianchi creates installations from detritus and collected objects. His works vary from small interventions and documentation of a city’s waste to sculptures or monuments of decay. Bianchi’s installation for the 13th Istanbul Biennial adopted the structure of a storefront and street stalls, inspired by the gallery’s main entrance being on a busy sidewalk. Bianchi encouraged viewers to interact with and alter the chaotically constructed space through simple performances and mildly embarrassing rules such as removing one shoe. He thinks of art spaces like laboratories “where you can do anything.”
