"As an artist, it’s very important to respond to the things that affect you- millions of things: religion, people, animals, excess, violence. Each person has to respond differently, and that response is involved with ethics, morality, history. This is, in the most basic sense, responsibility. But what does it mean to respond, take all this research, and find a form for it? Is there a way that any work of art can accommodate all of the material that is generated in the process of research?"
