"At this time in my life, I’m ready to accept or own a kind of romance and melancholy or melodrama that I wasn’t ready to reveal before. It was always there in my inner life as an artist, but I was too afraid to share it."
"When I’m totally absorbed in the painting, I’m not aware of thinking anything. I’m just in the painting except like, ‘Okay, here I am, I’m painting this blue. I like the way it’s feeling. Everything’s okay.’ But then I have to step back. I have to change my brush or make another color. It’s a continuous process and it’s my art. I’m so into it. It just feels so normal to me and so exhilarating at the same time."
