"At this time in my life, I’m ready to accept or own a kind of romance and melancholy or melodrama that I wasn’t ready to reveal before. It was always there in my inner life as an artist, but I was too afraid to share it."
"I wanted to do a piece about alienation- and about UFOs- and immigration, placing the work in Tijuana. There’s this large monitor and surveillance system pointed up at the cosmos in Hollywood B-movie fashion, searching for ‘real’ aliens and subverting the meaning of the word. Everybody in Tijuana, from cab drivers to artists to politicians, got the joke."
