"The title came after I made this piece. My mother studied Shakespeare, but she also loved drama and theatre in her life, and in all the senses. So this is a theatre. This piece wasn’t made to illustrate my mother or be a portrait of her but, in retrospect, the theatre of the piece was interesting for me in relationship to her. I’m also interested in theatre...how sculpture has become theatrical. Having taken it off the pedestal, which separated it from the space of the room, it now sits in the room with you- and you move in the same space as it. So you become an actor in the room, alongside the actor that the sculpture is."
