"At this time in my life, I’m ready to accept or own a kind of romance and melancholy or melodrama that I wasn’t ready to reveal before. It was always there in my inner life as an artist, but I was too afraid to share it."

"A lot of my figuring-out-what-to-make time is spent doing some basic counting and measuring and
trying to figure out how big different elements of a piece should be. I could spend days obsessively thinking about three inches, two inches, six inches. It’s very much a mental exercise."
