"Like a lot of people in my generation, I’m interested in the notion of the departure point- in something that is a potential scenario rather than a plan- but that’s a process of suspension. Still, I like the format of the parable and, as I was saying, it’s really a haiku: it’s a very short way to express something, more to do with a poem than a novel."
