"Beauty is just kind of an accident. Beauty is just a happenstance. Beauty is the remainders of being a painter."
"Pure gold. What you gather from the look of it is its relationship to light. It’s not phenomenological; it’s empirical. It’s doing something that the gold most people have seen doesn’t do, either because it’s gold leaf (which has no object integrity) or carat gold (which even in purest form is alloyed with impurities that take away from its ‘goldness’). So- the only point to have something with such purity is that it’s the only way this object could exist. It needed that degree of purity to weld it to itself. It’s soft and malleable in its purest state. And in its relationship to light are all of the mythological aspects of gold."
