"The dandy is a bit of a trickster, really, and gets away with things. That’s why I’ve used that metaphor in that work. I know that within Yoruba culture the trickster is a well-known figure, but that’s not something that I grew up knowing about. My trickster evolved out of my own personal trickiness!"
