Kalup Linzy (b. 1977, Clermont, Florida, USA) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He earned a BFA and an MFA from the University of South Florida (2000, 2003) and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2002). He is a recipient of awards from the Harpo Foundation (2009), Art Matters (2008), Creative Capital (2008), Jerome Foundation (2008), Guggenheim Foundation (2007-08), and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation (2005). He has been an artist-in-residence at The Headlands Center for the Arts (2010), the Time-Based Art Festival at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art (2009), and the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation (2005).
