David Brooks

David Brooks (b. 1975, Brazil, Indiana, USA) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He attended the Städelschule, Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Frankfurt am Main, Germany (1998), and earned a BFA from The Cooper Union (2000) and an MFA from Columbia University (2009). Awards and honors include grants from the Explorer’s Club (2011), Foundation for Contemporary Arts (2010), and the Coypu Foundation (2009); residencies at Hamburg Gastatelier Fleetinsel, Hamburg (2011), de la Cruz Collection Residency Program (2010), Marie Walsh Sharpe Space Program (2009), and Socrates Sculpture Park (2009); and was a semi-finalist for the competitions In the Public Realm, Public Art Fund (2011), Sturgis Playground, City of Philadelphia's Percent for Art (2011), and Art in Public Places, Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens (Zoo Miami) Entranceway Plaza Design (2011).
