"William Kentridge: Anything Is Possible" Educators' Guide and Screening Companion
The Educators' Guide and Screening Companion is designed to accompany the William Kentridge: Anything Is Possible film and related online resources. The hour-long film provides an opportunity to delve deeper into the motivations, intentions, considerations, and machinations of an artist who works in many media, with many collaborators, and on a wide range of visual and performance-based projects. The film is an extension of the Art in the Twenty-First Century Season Five segment that features William Kentridge and presents a wide range of his work—from drawings and sculpture to animations, films, and performances. The film also explores topics relevant to studio art, art history, and the humanities, as well as themes central to his artistic practice.
The Educators' Guide and Screening Companion is organized according to the ten chapters presented in the DVD and online versions of the film. These chapters provide opportunities to investigate a particular narrative or theme. Each chapter is 5 to 8 minutes in length.

The guide provides discussion questions to engage students prior to watching the film and to encourage active viewing. It also offers many opportunities to pause during viewing, to ask students to focus on particular images, quotes, or ideas in order to facilitate understanding. Suggestions related to each chapter can be used after viewing, to help students and teachers reflect on what they have seen, process ideas, and create work.
This section serves as a resource for facilitating independent screenings of the film for community audiences. For organizations and individuals planning these events, it provides suggestions that focus on particular themes, questions, and quotes to encourage audience engagement and dialogue around the film.
